Happy Holidays

This village is one of my favorite family heirlooms.  It's from Germany and my parents always put it out for Christmas with our Merklin train set.  Spun fiberglass snow, sparks from the train tracks, and lights inside the houses made for an unforgettable memory.

Sheep and Wool Festival

I must admit that this is my favorite festival! The colors, people, food, fiber and of course the animals. Nothing is more enjoyable than selecting lovingly created and beautifully dyed wool. The animal attendees are always interesting and totally entertaining to look at! Love them!

Sweet Sheep

This sheep was so sweet! You can buy this painting at my shop here.

Favorite Booth

This booth really stood out to me.  Lisa Joyce of Lisa Joyce Designs had the most beautiful display of yarn!
She arranged them as color gradations from one end of the spectrum to the other.  Nubby, curley, loops of, well just look at the picture.   Her hats were truly inspiring!  She has everything right.  The color, texture, simple sophisticated design.  Check out her website http://www.lisajoycedesigns.com/bio.html
You must look at her images.  I'm ready to move!

Brown Alpaca

Alpacas are kept in herds that graze on flat surfaces in the andes of Southern Peru, Northern Bolivia, Ecuador, and Northern Chile.  They were bred for their fiber.  alpacas are classified as camelids.
Alpaca fleece is similar to sheep's wool, but it is warmer, not prickly, and contains no lanolin.  This makes it hypoallergenic.  It is soft and glossy similar to hair.  I bought some dark brown yarn to crochet a hat.
